Auto-immune diseases of the nerves

For the Financieele Dagblad (a Dutch financial paper) I illustrated a medical series. This is one of that series. Damaged nerves recover with great difficulty.  Frank Baas of the Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC) of Amsterdam researched the possibility of stimulating nerve recovery by medicines administered by injection or oral means. An example of a genetic disease that affects the nerves is Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease(CMT). This inherited disorder is relatively rare: only one in every 2.500 to 10.000 people acquire it.
